NAGA has had many outstanding members. However, since the inaugural tournament in 1968, there have been a number or "Stars" who have been recognized as Hall of Fame members. Several of them are still active. Say "Hello" next time you see one of them.
BILL DAVIS - Founder of NAGA and Cofounder of Golf Digest Magazine. Bill was the original inductee into Hall of Fame in 1990. He was a member of Metropolitan AGA in New York City. A great idea man, Bill Davis came up with the idea of forming a group that became NAGA. By his own admission, once his ideas were out, he needed someone else to make them happen. NAGA is fortunate to have the great leaders who picked up Bill's idea and ran with it. He brought much support for NAGA over the years from the advertising industry across the country

DON JOHNSON - President, 1979 & 1980. Don was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991. As a member of Western AGA of Chicago, Don is the only person to have attended every NAGA tournament to-date. He was a member of the winning team in the inaugural NAGA tournament in 1968 and helped run many of the early tournaments. He has served on every committee of NAGA and continues to serve on today's Board of Directors as Director Emeritus. The annual tournament would not be complete, nor as much fun, without Don making those who attend cry with laughter from his entertaining monologues. Don has been NAGA's best friend over the years. Past, present and future NAGA leadership have been and will be guided by Don's insistence of keeping NAGA fun for as many that attend as possible.

DON BAXTER - President, 1987. Don was inducted into Hall of Fame in 1993. He was an original Member of Los Angeles WAG which later become known as ADLINX. A true executive and leader. Don and his wife, Mary, have been ardent supporters of NAGA for many years. Don managed every position he filled in NAGA with same professionalism he exudes elsewhere. He never complained, but also never shied from making difficult decisions. As one of the true leaders to have served NAGA, it is a much stronger and better organization because of Don's participation.

JERRY BROWN - President, 1978. Jerry was inducted into Hall of Fame in 1994. He was a member of Detroit AA and the Western AGA of Chicago. Jerry's people skills, organizational talents and tireless energy made him a valuable leader of NAGA for many years. His leadership during 1978, when it was necessary to move the event at the last minute, literally helped save the organization.

CY DAWSON - President, 1982. Cy was inducted into Hall of Fame posthumously in 1994. He was a member of Georgia AGA. Cy's financial expertise enabled him to be the first NAGA Tournament Chairman to make enough of a profit on an annual event (1980 @ Doral) to print NAGA's brochure the following year. His salesmanship, coupled with his financial knowledge, enabled Cy to go places in the business world where others had failed. He was as good a 7-handicap golfer as there ever was, and a constant supporter of NAGA.

CHESTER RIEDEMANN - President, 1972. Chet was inducted into Hall of Fame in 1994. He was a member of Western AGA of Chicago. As one of the original officers during NAGA's creation in 1968, Chet was instrumental in forming the original by-laws and did much of the work in running the organization during those early years. He has continued to support NAGA long after his involvement as an officer.

JOHN SCHNEIDER - President, 1976. John was inducted into Hall of Fame posthumously in 1994, however, he received the news of his election to the Hall of Fame while he was in the hospital. He was a member of Metropolitan AGA. A happy, upbeat, generous, inspirational man, John Schneider spread sunshine wherever he went. Having been captain of the University of North Dakota golf team, John played excellent golf most of his life. His dedication to both the Metropolitan AGA and NAGA kept both organizations alive during very stressful times. His enthusiasm ensured the legacy of the Sam Nield Trophy forever. John and his wife, Carol, attended almost every NAGA event in his lifetime. He was a major contributor to NAGA's success today.

SKIP REIN - President, 1986. Skip was inducted into Hall of Fame in 1995. He is a member of Kansas City AGA. Skip served as Chairman of the Executive Committee after his term as President. Many of NAGA's improvements were due to his involvement and leadership. In fact, it was Skip's suggestion that a "Hall of Fame" be formed for NAGA to give recognition to those who have helped make NAGA the great organization that it has become.

AL NEISH - President, 1990. Al was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997. He is a member of Oregon AGA and a past member of San Francisco AGA and San Jose AGA. Al has been very active in NAGA functions for many years, serving in every office and on all committees. He has given NAGA chapters a good formula for raising funds to support a chapter's sponsorship of a NAGA event. Al & his wife, Claire, have been among NAGA's most active and successful promoters for NAGA and two of its chapters, Oregon AGA and San Francisco AGA. Al's analytical approach to business situations allows him to get to the heart of the matter quickly and usually results in a good suggestion for the handling the situation. He has contributed much to NAGA and he continues to have a great interest in helping NAGA be at its best.

STEVE CRANE - President, 1991 and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. Steve has been a dedicated NAGA man since the first time he represented Chicago in the national tournament in 1984 in Tucson. He brought that same dedication with him as he became the NAGA Representative and then proceeded through the chairs to the Presidency NAGA at Kiawah Island. Steve has grown up in the wonderful world of golf. He has put his knowledge and enthusiasm to good use for NAGA and continues to have the group's best interest foremost in his thoughts at all times. Steve put in his time as a teaching golf pro before moving into the ad business full time. He was instrumental in organizing the ROSES section of NAGA for our lady golfers in addition to always being there when Board decisions had to be made quickly and thoughtfully. Steve will continue to be an important cog in NAGA's future.

STEVE SCHAUL - President in 1993 and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999, Steve has contributed greatly to the steady and healthy growth of NAGA in the 1990's. A sharp, fair individual, Steve never hesitates in making meaningful business decisions and then backing them up with great attention to detail. Things are always happening when Steve is involved and the many successes within his local Dallas Chapter and NAGA have been positively influenced by his good business judgment. Steve is not one to waste anyone's time in meetings. With a unique ability to get to the heart of a problem and come up with a workable solution, Steve has been a true NAGA asset, chairing two big national tournaments and moving through the NAGA officer's ranks to its presidency. He will continue to be a big contributor in the years to come. When the work is over you'll find Steve leading the fun. Steve's great sense of humor and a knack for making people around him forget their troubles has contributed to making the annual tournament a "must" on many members' calendars.

JACK MOYS - Jack Moys' selection as the 12th member of the NAGA Hall of Fame in 2000 was well deserved. Long one of the enthusiastic members in the organization, Jack contributed greatly and consistently to the growth and health of NAGA. We learned over the years to listen when he presented an idea or a plan to make the group function better and to respect his expertise in organizing and promoting outings and running fund-raising auctions in the Oregon AGA. While impatient at times when members' efforts were not up to par, Jack always appreciated those whose work showed they cared for NAGA as much as he did. Jack Moys was a doer.

BOB JORDAN - President, 1995. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001. A tireless worker and a master of detail. Bob's many years in the banking business gave him great insight and background for the tremendous contribution he made to NAGA. Bob went through all the chairs on his way to the NAGA Presidency in 1995. He could always be relied upon for superior performance without losing his special knack for making his fellow workers feel appreciated. The special Jordan touch made easy work out of tough problems within the national group and his Rocky Mountain AGA Chapter, and won him the respect of everyone with whom he came in contact. Bob was always there when needed. A real professional, an outstanding golfer and a true gentleman.

PAUL MENNEG - Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001 posthumously. One of the prime movers in the formation of NAGA, Paul was Golf Digest publisher Bill Davis' right hand man for many years. Paul was a sales promotion guru and also supervised the many Golf Digest Instructional Schools around the country. Although a serious minded man, no one enjoyed a golf-connected good time more than Paul did. He was the man most responsible for establishing an annual budget for operating NAGA and insisting that the group operate within it. Paul was never one to push himself into the foreground, preferring to apply his expertise from back-stage through the NAGA Committees and providing a great feeling of quiet confidence to those with whom he worked.

DAVID PITKIN - As Executive Director since 1992, David's induction to the NAGA Hall of Fame in 2002 was long overdue. An officer of the San Jose AGA chapter and slated to come through the NAGA chairs, he decided to leave San Jose in 1990 to enter golf event management with his own business, GolfQuest. NAGA was fortunate to become one of his first clients. In a few short years he took a group of good individual chapters operating with a common goal and made them into one great advertising golf association. Under his unselfish, positive direction NAGA has prospered and grown. David has traveled throughout the country investigating possible playoff sites and negotiating favorable terms with resorts selected as potential future tournament venues by the NAGA board , but he has never taken an ego trip. His quiet, honest and thorough approach to guiding NAGA has provided us with the stability and direction we need to remain strong. Anyone who has had the good fortune to work with David Pitkin knows what his efforts have meant to NAGA.

MIKE McGINNIS - President, 1997 (NAGA’s “Zenith Year” according to Mike) and inducted in 2004. Mike served as Co-Chairman of NAGA 29 at Innisbrook Resort in 1996. He also led the AGA of Cincinnati during many of their most active years. Long a single-digit handicap golfer in his own right, Mike is a Class A gentleman on and off the course. Mike’s acute sense of humor, fairness and love of NAGA has served us well over his many years of service to our organization. As Mike relocates to Denver in 2005, Cincinnati’s loss will be the gain of the Rocky Mountain AGA. His hard work and dedication at both the local chapter and national level are a model for all members to follow.

JOHN YOUNG - President, 1992 and inducted in 2004. A 20+ year member of the AGA of Oregon, John has served as its President and has been its NAGA Representative for many years. NAGA experienced significant change under his leadership as NAGA President. NAGA’s Board of Directors began serving on a rotating basis and an Executive Director was hired for the first time. Both of these changes have served NAGA well ever since.

CHRIS WEISHAR – President, 1999 and inducted in 2005. Serving as Co-Chairman of NAGA 36 at Colonial Williamsburg was the culmination of 20 years of dedicated involvement with the Kansas City AGA, where he served in all capacities and as President in 1993. He attended almost every NAGA tournament since 1988, many of them with his father, Paul, who was also a longtime member of KCAGA. Chris could always be counted on to help in any capacity, whether it fell within his responsibility or not. His decisions and input consistently reflected his immense intellect and well-balanced sense of fairness.
